IM WRITIN YOU IN ON THE BALLOTIt is very difficult to compete with accurate ratings... I don't plan to change, but I hear it all the time.
My B&M dealers will sometimes comment that "brand x" 100x2 amp costs less than my SAX-100.2 -- but the SAX-100.2 does it's power at 12.8 volts (less, even).
Then... cheap companies will write "800 watts" on their amp that does 100 x 2 @ 14.4 volts -- so they think it does twice what the SAX-100.2 does bridged. When, in reality, it probably does 2/3 or less in real life in an actual car.
It's tough to convince many customers... and even many shop owners of this. Simply due to the way the market it. I'm a small company I don't have to grow 100% sales every year to stay in business... I can afford to rate my stuff the way I want it. I plan to stay that way too as long as I can pay the bills //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If I can't pay the bills and sell an honest product I'll move to a different industry rather than going the route of lying to customers.
I understand why US Amps did what they did... doesn't mean I like it or agree with it. But, the guy is right... customers will often buy the big number with cheap price regardless of what they are told by their dealer.
Well, we don't. All the combined members of car audio forums online make up a small percentage of the public out there buying equipment. Most guys looking for a cheap bump in their car buy with their eyes and not with their heads. Throw a "2000w" sticker on anything and they'll buy it.Who listens to dealers these days. I mean seriously.
People that are normal customers, unlike us.Who listens to dealers these days. I mean seriously.
who told you to take the vids downWell, it was just me and Mr. Casey Walsh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I thought it was a fun little time. Walked through the factory, there wasnt much production actually, just one guy in the back soldering, and dirk in his lab workin it because the CES stuff was set up in the work room.
Ill have pix later on tonight but ill post what i thought was the most informative part of the tour, the interview with JR. This is just the section of the Q&A in which people from the forums asked questions. We talked for a good hour afterwards about different things usamps has been designing, most notably their venture into home audio But that is for another time.
aww man right when itwas good i was told to take the vids of temporarily. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif will be back up tho! hopefully.

thats a horrible example. they can get away with calling it a 3000+ because those processors can keep up with a 3ghz processor.I still want to see the photos. I'm saddened to hear of the business practices, but at least they are telling how they are doing it. I have had numerous U.S. Amps, and loved them (even bought one off of flakko). Sounds like they are getting close to main stream, which isn't what I want out of an amp company (which is why I use Tru and will use Sundown next) as I prefer the personal touch. I like being able to call Tru up and talk to one of the guys and them give me info about my specific amp (and by that I don't mean model, I mean serial numbered exact one).
Good information either way.
EDIT: Just re-watched the video. I really understand what he is saying now. He is saying that they are trying to sell apples-to-apples.
Much like when AMD stopped calling an XP processor a 2.0 and changed it to 3000+. Why? Because if they didn't no one would buy the AMD processor even though it was just as fast as the 3.0ghz. U.S. amps is trying to make it an even playing field.
I mean, I have seen on here before people talking about why would someone spend 1,000 dollars on a 35X2 amp when they can get a 100X4 amp for far less.
