I don't see why anyone should be given 3 million dollars because they were too irresponsible to purchase the correct insurance coverage.

I don't see why anyone should be given 3 million dollars because they were too irresponsible to purchase the correct insurance coverage.

Actually, plenty of people had the proper coverage, but the insurance companies pretty much said "screw you". A lot, and I mean LOT, of people are fighting the insurance companies in court right now. I watched an MSNBC special on that not too long ago.

The one story that I remember best was one guy who lost his entire house and the insurance company was trying to claim that it was all water damage. Well, there was a piece of his roof, which was made of tin which doesn't float, up in a tree above the highest point that the water rose to showing that wind was responsible for at least SOME of the damage. His insurance company still denied his claim and he took them to court.

Suing the government isn't going to get very far in court though.

Oh no, insurrance companies are only in it to make money. God forbid they ever have to actually perform the service (insure) which people pay them to do in the first place.
