Thats what I'm saying, anyone can get a job if they apply a little effort. It may not be your dream job but sometimes you gotta take baby steps.

Step 1: Get a job anywhere just to have some income

Step 2: While working at shitty job start looking for something better.

I've had some pretty shitty jobs in my lifetime, sometimes you just gotta hang in there and do what you gotta do till something better comes along.

exactly. if i had kids, i'd dig ditches, be a garbage man or whatever it took to feed them. there is no excuse for people to live off of the gov't. my sister gets food stamps, but not because she is too lazy to work. she has 2 kids and is pregnant (don't get me started...) and in college. the babies daddy is a piece so she really needs the help. she doesn't go crack it up. BTW, she could pass a piss test

Terrible idea and iirc we have covered this before.

All you will end up doing is hurting the kids who have done nothing wrong except being born to a drug addict.

Now what is a good idea, it to require long term contraceptive (depo or vasectomy) use to anyone wanting get government help. If you cant support yourself, you dam sure cant afford kids.

Another good idea is to tie the earned income credit on a tax return to a child's academic progress. If your kids do poorly in school, you dont get that extra $3k at tax time, but you would still get your regular food stamps (so the kids dont starve). Maybe kick down an extra couple hundred if the kids do REALLY well in school.

I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB... SO I AGREE 100%

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me.

I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.

In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test

with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is

the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check

because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand,

I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do,

on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTTS,

doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state

would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.

Hope you all will pass it along, though . . . Something has to change in this

country -- and soon!

If the person has kids and can't pass a drug test they don't need the kids anyway. It seems like a horrible thing to say but if they are spending their government check to buy drugs, they probably aren't giving the kids the care they need. They should be taken away.

Thats pretty harsh and a terrible thing to take kids away from their home, but do you really think someone getting high on the little bit of money they have is worried about their kids eating?

Iv said this is almost every political post iv read on here and any other forum. I want to see a candidate that mandates this. Even if they don't require drug testing for the rest of us, i see to much abuse of our welfare system, and if you have money to buy drugs, then you have money to support yourself.

I can get pulled from three separate drug pools each month. Company, union, and State...

Any money you save on welfare would have to be spent on orphanages and you would probably end up with an overall increase in spending as well as incarcerating millions of kids in a prison like orphanage system.

It's a terrible idea that isn't well thought out.

what, in all honesty, do you think is the chance that those kids will grow up to lead succesful, normal adult lives?

perhaps if the individuals cant pass the drug test, they should have their children taken into protective custody, and their welfare removed.

i think the drug test is a great idea.

These sort of crackpot schemes appeal to the American spirit of self determinism and fairness, they appear on the surface to be good ideas, but in reality would cause more problems than they solve.
