I was driving home from work today and my music stoped playing. My head unit says "Protect" and I can't get it to go away. I have a jvc kd-r610. Please help!

unplug the headuinit power cord. for 30 sec. my old pioneer did that once in a while

newb.... pull the headunit out find the yellow wire . cut it and leave it for about 30 sec then recconnect it

take out the hu and unplug the harness for 30 sec or maybe pos term of the battery for 30 sec would do the same???

Pulling the negative battery cable off would do the same thing. But make sure your HU speaker outputs aren't shorted to ground or to each other, or it'll happen again.

your head unit should have come with stereo forks to remove it. you just slide them in the slots, after you pull the trim ring, and, the little hooking knotches should both release, and grab the head unit body. then, unplug the harness. remember, you need to use both forks at once.

It may bandaid it for now, taking out the harness and putting it back it, but if it did it once, more than likely will do it again.

my alpine did that, when/if you pull the hu out make sure there are not any exposed wire, tape up if you need to,or whatever it takes to fix, someone on here should be able to help. good luck, it's frustrating when you invest time/money into all this to only have stuff like this happen. good luck, hope you can solve without to much headache.

I hit the reset button behind the face plate but it did it again and now my subs aren't working properly! I also have missing menu options that adjust my subs. whats up with this? this is why I dont trust stereo shops. Anyone know a good shop in the los angeles area? I've asked this question at least 5 times here but no response!

sounds like a shorted wire somewhere, cant give advice on shops though

closest good shop that i know of to la is in fresno audio innovations,ask for ray.sounds like a short somewhere
