They sent me the shielded version. Is there anyway I can take the shield off? I figure you could, i mean if it got damaged and wantd to repair it youd have to remove it. Very nice 61/2 subs/midbass driver. 8lbs a peice. single 8ohm, so for now theyll be run off my headunit and wire down to 4 ohm. But how do I get this shield off? Its to big to mount in my rear without modification that id rather not do..

mono midbass?
just noticed you have them in the rear deck, was thinking these were door speakers.
nah rear deck. no subs atm so ill just run some dedicated midbass running IB off the HU (for now) till i get a 4 ch amp then run them mono

and no.. my door speakers are my babies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif my digital designs comps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/drool.gif.b5e863e893038027711d4402f340dad0.gif

this thread is full of lose.

to answer the ops question though. The shields can be removed. But if they are going in your rear deck do you really need to take the shields off? It is not like you will have clearance issues, or it wont fit through the opening?

it all depends. if i can find a 6x9 to 6.5 conversion mount, it might not fit. but then again i can always make my own baffle from some thin MDF. i just didnt thing the shields were good for car audio. i thought it was just a home audio thing?

The shield wont hurt anything. Leave it on if possible.

Paralleling these things for mono midbass is a bad idea. Running them off the deck makes it even worse man. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I recommend waiting until you can install them right. Chances are very likely they will sound pretty bad with your current plan.

Either way, good luck.
