upgrading

I currently own a Kenwood 12 and a Sony amp and both are not nearly enough for me.

Have 1000$ to spend.

Went to a local shop and priced 2 Rockford fosgate p2 4 ohm sub's that came in the factory rf box and a Rockford 500 mono amp, 4 ga upgrade and installed for about 1000$ ,+2-3 year warranty

Now to me that seems like a great deal but basically if I can get better for the same money or less i deff would go that road. There's just so many new manufacturers.

I'll be listening to mainly rap music. Warranty is important. Want 2 12s. Will build the box myself if needed. Want quality products that will do what they say they will.

That is a rip off for some p2's and a 500 watt amp..

So realisticly if i bought a soundqubed q1-1200d

And 2 hds212 and wired to 1 ohm it would be a perfect match as well as way better bang for the buck? And considerably louder?

And in fine with install fees. I'm aware of those costs abd will go that route to get it tuned right as well. So the Rockford setup is still not good even knowing installing fees are included?

The HDS2 series is soundqubed's bottom of the barrel sub line, but I'd still rather have one of those than the p2's. Ultimately, box would be a factor. If they are in the proper enclosure, I don't think there would be a contest. The 1200d would give them a lot more power than the 500 watt rockford.

I'd snag this amp before its gone though, and get one Soundqubed HDS3 15 for it:

It would be $349 for this option^ and you could save money by doing things yourself. People on here can build you a custom box, but hooking everything up is not that hard.

Is your time or money worth more? If you don't care to learn, than pay the shop for your install.

Your budget is higher than mine. If I were you, with the parameters you gave (amp and 2 12s), I would get this:

Wouldn't a p2 be mid range in quality compared to the low end soundqubed? Plus if I bought 2 p2s and a soundqubed q1-1200. At 2 ohms it's rated for 810. Which would be a perfect match for the Rockford? ya? What makes soundqubed that much better. I want quality not cheap.

There's not a whole lot of magnet under the Rockford boot..

The Soundqubed also has a slightly larger voice coil, for more power handling.

Not too different, but I'd go HDS2 over P2.
