Upgrading Wire Question

I currently have a Jl W6 with the A1400(400watt RMS) amp with what I believe is 8 gauge wire running from my battery to amp. Now I plan on getting a new system with a amp of around 1500-2000watts which Ill need 1/0 wire for. Do I need to get a whole new wiring kit or just replace the 8 gauge wire with 1/0? Im assuming 1 run of 1/0 will be more than enough even after I upgrade my speakers in a month or two, am I right with that assumption?

Replace that current power line with 1/0. You might also need a different fuse holder and fuse. Did you do the Big 3 in 8 gauge too?

I didnt do the big 3 at all and plan to do that with my next system. Sadly I had a shop do the install but I plan to do this upcoming install myself. So a good amount of 1/0 wire for the big 3 and amp power wire, and most likely a bigger fuse holder and fuse? I will check the size of my fuse tommorow but I have a feeling it will need to be bigger.

Thanks alot wiring was the thing I was most worried about. Now since my RCA's are already ran to my headunit and such I can just plug them into my new amp? I know it varies from car to car but roughly how much wire should I plan on buying 40-50ft? And is there a way to calculate what size fuse I should buy?
