Upgrading to.... Have a few questions

Hey guys, newb to the forum here!

Seems as though i have a bit of a question here. And i thought, why not try and post it up here?!

Ive been installing systems for a few years now, experience with many different subs and systems. Mostly FI subs. But it seems as though, i am the only one with a terrible system!!! So i have 2 12'' xplods on a rockford 800.2. It does a 139.2 at 47hz. ICK. Thats no system, so here are my options avail for a new one.

Audioque sdc2.5 15'' Looks like a good sub for the money

Audioque Hdc3 10'' I really like the concept of a high powered 10'' especially in my BII with limited space

OR a guy i know is willing to sell me his current system, it is 6 rockford R2 10's. It does get low, and he wants 230$ for all 6.

If i buy the audioque sub/s id be running a rockford 1000bd or an audiopipe 1500. This is all on 4ga, and stock electrical. No dimming with 800rms i have at the moment. SO......... heres the question. Given my circumstances, which one will get the lowest and loudest the MOST efficiently? unless you have more suggestions for me.....

Thanks for helpin!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the 15 will need less power to get going i believe. it will get low as well. the 10 can be tuned low but idk how stiff the suspension is. i doubt it moves as much air as well...

as far as the rockfords go, the Prime R2's are better than the punch P1s in my opinion. all 6 of those would wang on 1000 watts and 230 is less than 40 bucks a pop which is about cost price. not too bad of a deal there if you just want to get loud and low.

See, thats what im thinking. 6, 10's regardless of brand or type is a h*** of alot more cone space than 1 15''. Hence moving more air and seeming to have lower response. Plus ive heard them.

Question though, what happens to efficiency when you chain that many together? is efficiency increased or does it take more power?

But that audioque price really got me thinking about them........

Depends on the final ohm loud on how much power your amp puts out. Then the amps efficiency is what taxes you electrical system. Depending on the factory alt size u can normally squeeze 1000-1500 on factory electrical and the big 3

Yes, i understand that. I meant the efficiency of the speakers. Will 6 10's take MORE power to get louder, or LESS? than a 15 of sort.

The only problem with me doing the big 3 is, my alternator is externally regulated. Not internal like modern cars. Its an 84'. So im not entirely sure how id go about doing that

Certainly sounds smart to me! He had em on an audio pipe 1800. So looks like ill be looking for a good amp soon.

I went and picked them up today! Soon as i get the cash for the build ill start a thread and post pics!! really stoked about this one:)

Well....... news is...... i gave those 6 10's back. had no space for them. AND i got a stupid deal on 2 10'' w7's. 2 new w7's in the boxes for 200$. That was so cheap i felt like i ripped them off. So what amp do i put on these 3 ohms subs??? 3 cubes tuned to 32 hz is reccomended by jl?

take JL's recommendation. print it out on paper. put that on the ground with an arrow drawn in any direction you choose on the top of the paper. now face the opposite direction and that is the way you should go. you've saved an @ss load of money, so get a real design based on what you want at the headrest and what space you have available for the enclosure.
