i have 2 12inch type-r's, with my stock speakers...

im kind of lost in the speaker department, i know i want components, 6.5's and 6x9 in the back, and tweeters possibly if the price is good

im looking at all of this for around $300-$400, thanks guys

well i decided to go with the PG RSD6.5's for the front, and the 690's for the back, just wondering what amp i should get for this.

any suggestions, looking to spend like $150 on it

Just do one set in the front and in the rear of the RSD6.5's. Don't do the 6x9's in the rear. Whats your budget on an amp and we'll tell you or are you trying to keep speakers + amp for $400?

Why would you run only fronts when you can run rears and fill the car even more? Never understood why you wouldn't run rears unless you wanted to just be cheap. But if you're gonna do rears don't get the 6x9's get the 6.5's in the back as well!

I don't run rears because front only sounds better (to me, anyway). With only front speakers, you get a better "soundstage" (if tuned properly it sounds like the music is right on your dashboard). With speakers in the rear playing the same frequencies as the fronts, you will here the same sounds coming from two sources, and because you're further away from the rear speakers, the sounds from the front speakers will hit your ears first, then the rears second. This makes the overall sound more sloppy and will confuse your ears as to where the sound is actually coming from. Music is recorded in two channels, not four. So why use four speakers? I don't see this as being cheap, I see this as being able to afford a nicer front speaker set with an amplifier.

ill probably spend between $100 and $180 for the amp for them..i guess ill just do 2 sets of 6.5's..

If you are going to run your front mids on 1 amp, I have an RF 500a2 in pretty much mint condition, just lookin for 110+shipping. I completely agree on only doing a front stage though. If you don't have one yet, get a deck with time alignment. The older Eclipse 8xxxmodels are great and you can get them for under 200. I think there is an 8053 for sale somewhere.
