Current system in sig. I'm not sure when I'll be upgrading, but I definitely will be eventually. I'm looking to get a DC 280 amp alt, a 4kw+ Brazilian amp, and I have no idea what batt(s) to buy or how many. My budget (EXCLUDING amp, batt(s), and alt), is very flexible, but preferably under $400. I definitely want very extreme loud body hurting bass, so this can go up $200 or so if need be. This will be a budget conscious setup, for what it is.
Now, 4kw+ should be pretty easy to get loud off, but first of all, I have a trunk car (but I'm taking out deck speakers, won't have to fold seats down to get loud), and my current box takes up the entire space I have available. It is double .75" birch. 3.5 cubes, 13.5H X 30W X 26D. Not even one inch bigger will fit for height and width, but I can maybe add an inch of depth at the most. It is braced enough to handle a powerful sub.
I want it to be musical, loud on all bass frequencies (25-65ish?) and have the ability to still slam on the lows, 24-32hz range. What would be the best way to go in this situation? Best bang for the buck gear is a priority here.
I have considered:
*Directly swapping out my sa-15 for a soundqubed hdc4 15, but I've heard they need 3.75 cubes, and it wouldn't give me any cone area advantage over what I currently have. Also, I feel like I'm getting screwed when the hdc4 18 is only $10 more but it can't fit in my trunk, lol
*some other single 15 that's cheaper and better than the hdc4, if one exists, maybe Incriminator Audio? A single sub would help keep cost down and quality high with my budget
*subs that do well in small enclosure
*2 really nice 10's?
*Lots of small cheaper subs like 6 8's. SA-8's or hds208's etc. These would have a lot of cone area and can work in 3.5 cubes
Can any "in-the-know" people help me decide what to buy?
Thanks
