Upgrading from Pioneer DEH-P860MP to DEH-P980BT

I just received the P980BT and was wondering if the wiring harnesses for both models are the same. It would be so much easier if all I had to do was unplug the harnesses from the old one and plug them into the new one instead of resplicing all the wires.

Thanks!

i am almost positive it is just look at the wires to be in the same spot first i know they both have the new mini plugs but not sure if the 980 has extra wires

very nice purchase i got one beautiful graphics, blue tooth and nice sound (not actice though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif only reason im not using it)

I still have the installation manual from the P860MP and the wiring diagram is identical, in terms of wire color. Only one wire seems to have a different function and I'm not currently using it on the P860MP.

As for it not being active, that's no big deal to me. I had very little room to work with in my truck. I barely had enough room to fit the 10s and the 3-channel DLS amp behind my back seat as is. I just don't have the room to throw in another amp and go active.

I mainly upgraded because the display for Sirius on my current head unit sucks and PA just made it illegal to use cell phones while driving. The hands free blue tooth connection will be nice and I can't get ticketed for it.

bluetooth works nice with most phones i heard its no good with verizon
The only thing I haven't been able to do so far is transfer the phonebook. I have one of the original razors and it appears that it doesn't support the feature. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I don't know if it's my head playing games with me, but the sound quality is already better. Plus the blue tooth feature is enough of an upgrade to me.

I am looking into buying this head unit as well. If you have an iPod hooked up to it, can you let me know what it's like? I am trying to decide between this head unit and an Alpine. I like how fast the Alpine is with the iPod, as far as searching through artists and songs and stuff like that, but I haven't been able to test a Pioneer with an iPod. If you could help me out, I would appreciate it!

I listened to both and liked the sound of the 860mp. Apples to appless I guess. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't have an ipod. Sorry.

This unit is definitely a lot louder than my 860 was. Still sounds as good if not better.

Thats odd, I had the opposite... 6.5 v vs the 4? from the 980. All that matters it that ou like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
