Upgrading from 5 1/4 to 6 1/2 for front stage

Currently have 5 1/4 speakers installed. Would it be a major improvement if I upgraded to 6 1/2 inch speakers? It was suggested due to better midbass from the larger speaker, how drastic is the difference? Going to go with an ID or CDT component set an upgrade from Alpine type S running off the deck. Will be purchasing a 2 channel sundown amp to power the new comp set.

Would like to be able to save the $$$ if the diff. isn't drastic but if it is I'm more then willing to upgrade. Any thoughts?

I should note that rear fill will not be a part of the new setup. I'm going to remove the rear speakers completely to allow the sub sound to flow more freely through the cabin.
