Hello there, I am looking to upgrade all the speakers and the 8" subwoofer while keeping them in there stock locations on a 2008 wrangler sahara. I realize they wont perform as well without a dedicated amp but later on I may do a deck and nice little 5 channel amp. Anyways the stock 8" sub is a 1ohm sub, what would be my best option, SVC 4 or 8ohm. Was looking at some kicker subs.

Kicker 10C84 Component Car Subwoofers - Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

For the overhead speakers I have chosen the Alpine type-s coaxials. Alpine SPS-600 Full Range Car Speakers - Car Speakers at Onlinecarstereo.com

Now I am confused on the front speakers, it comes with a set of 4x6 components. I am looking at either the Alpine type-s 5.25 coaxial or a 5.25 component from some brand since alpine doesnt make one. Do you think if i got a 5.25 component i could use the existing wires from the tweeter/mid and just plug in without any weird side effects? Another option I was looking at was to just nix the separate tweeter and run the type-s coaxials. I will have to do some more digging around at the speakers tomorrow when its light but if you have any experience on stock jeeps please let me know, thanks.

an 08 Jeep Wrangler has 6.5 speakers on each side of a dash....and a set of tweeters on each corner in factory pods....there is a little sealed housing behind the stock grills...Jeep Wrangler quit using 4x6's in 06 in the dash
I was unaware of the new dash speaker size, thanks for the correction. I should have time tomorrow to take the grills off and take a closer look. Do you know how the components work? Does it split off a crossover somewhere or do the wires go into the head unit individually or something that im unaware of?

Thank you for your reply. I am aware of how a component set of speakers work but am unaware if the newer stock jeeps do anything special in there set up. Technology advances and since I have not done this in a few years I am behind. What I am asking is if anyone here has ever just connected a new set of speakers to the existing stock component setup, preferably in a newer jeep, what results they got from it.

there is only one set of wires going to the headunit...iirc the tweeters only use a basic capacitor on back of it...there is a 7mm screw behind the tweeter pod...remove it and ir will pop off...and you can unhook it to replace it out with a diffrent one...the dash speakers are a pain to get to...watch the drivers door when unstrapping it,,,if the door opens to far the mirror will hit putting a small ding in the upper cowl
