Upgraded wiring...

I'm not going to lie. I'm a car audio n00bzorxz. I got into car audio a little over a year ago. The first thing I did was run out, buy a cheap 12" sub, and cheap amp, and turn it up loud. Not knowing much, I ran whatever power cable we had sitting around the house, some 10awg for both the 12v and ground. As time has gone by I have ended up with 3 amps way too many 10awg cables. Will it be well worth it to run a 4awg or two to replace the 4 set of 10awg? I want to know not only for appearance, but for functionality purposes too.

Depends the Wattage you are running...But a 4 guage would be a great idea!

I am running an MTX MXA6001 at 600 watts, an Alpine MRP-M350 at 350 watts, and an MTX Thunder 4122 at... 100 watts or so? All of those are RMS wattages. I have one 10 guage wire going to the Alpine, and the MTX's are sharing 2 10 gauge cables. Geez, the more I say that to myself the worse it sounds.

No I don't have a distrobution block. Like I said, I started all of this a year ago when i was retarded to car audio. I now realize I have been wasting money on budget gear instead of getting a few really good pieces of equipment and focusing on the install. I just decided that I want to pull out all the crap I have put in there and start over. I am going to leave the Pioneer door speakers and Panasonic head unit, and I can still use the MTX Thunder and MXA6001, but I am going to buy a very solid pair of 12" subs, and get a good component set in some kick panels. I would post some pictures of all the shitty stuff I've done... but it would make me feel even dumber. Thanks Rafi!

Use the search button so you can get an idea of some solid equipment also you can see how much $$ you will need....But a good solid system will not cost you too much! As you can see everyone here is very helpfull...Use the search feature and if you still have a question just ask!

Don't feel dumb... My first system was a 2 channel amp hooked up to 2 6x9s....nothing else........ Everyone has to start somewhere!

Take your time installing it and do it right!
