Upgrade to Better Subs so should I use the ones I already have too?

I currently am running:

Sony headunit to Kicker 5 channel amp 90watts x 2 channels going to Infinity Kappa component speakers (FRONT) 75watts x 2 channels going to old school Soundstream SS6.0 midrange only. 400 watts RMS x 1 channel going to 2 JL Audio 10W0v2. I like the sound, but want more bass. I have always loved the sound of 12s, but went with these 10s because I got an enclosure that fits under the seat and houses 2-10s in my '07 Toyota Tundra Doublecab.

I am considering:

2 Aura bass shakers (one under each front seat) with amplifier to push them

or

go with 2 12" subs (mid level subs) and remove the 10s or use the 10s for midbass?

Any ideas from anyone? If I upgrade the subs, I would sacrifice the rear seats, but I would have better sound. The 10s sound nice, but I want more punch, so that is why I mentioned the Aura bass shakers--I have actually heard of a person selling his subs (he only had a pair of 8s) because he was that happy with the Aura bass shakers.

Try experiencing bass shakers before deciding to buy them. Some people have the experience you described, of being overwhelmingly happy, and some are simply underwhelmed. They tend to give the most noticeable improvement to systems with no sub, or a very weak sub system. But a system with a strong sub presence should have no trouble shaking your butt plenty without them.

Bass shakers provide a completely tactile experience. And even for that, it doesn't provide the entire tactile experience of moving more air like larger or more powerful sub system would produce. They have their uses, they work great for non-sub systems, or even a gamer's chair, but their role drops off significantly when you have a good subwoofer.

When you upgrade to new subs, no, do not use the old ones. Sell them on craigslist and use the funds towards the new speakers.

another option is getting a signficantly more powerful dedicated sub amp and a pair of 10's that can handle the power and get louder. or perhaps a pair of 12's that work in small enclosures, like the size of the enclosure you have now for the 10's.

My thing is mounting depth if I want to utilize my rear seats. I did see a guy on a different site with 4-8" Sunddown SA8 subs in a custom made enclosure. He was able to utilize his back seat in his extended cab too. It is cheaper to go bigger though, get a dedicated amp, but lose the rear seat. Decisions, decisions... One other thing, it would be less expensive to get say 2 Alpine Type X 12s versus four Sundown 8s when you take in consideration not only the cost for the subs, but the enclosure too.

The 8's could/would be in a shared chamber box, so the price to build it shouldn't really be significantly higher than one for 2 12's, if not cheaper.

Another option would be to replace the JL Audio W0s for a pair of Fosgate PS3 shallow mount 12s or Kicker CVT 12s...............................................................................................................................................................................

No You will be downgrading in output

^^^^ This is what I was going to recommend.

Most people do not think of raising the rear seat, it is easy to do and works well.

I think 4" is too much but 2" is easy and adds a good amount of space to work with.
