upgrade question

my buddy has a single type x 12 in 2.25 tuned to 40hz powered with 650 watts rms.

its averaging about 144 on the ac meter.

would it be noticeably louder to directly swap in an AQ hcd3 and a rockford t10001bd to power it?

were trying to hit 140's on the tl.

Then he probably shouldn't run an HCD3 then. Look into something more efficeint...

well the power series are pretty under-rated so the hdc3 would be getting 1400-1500rms. shouldn't that be enough to get it moving until he gets a bigger amp down the road?

is this usaci rules? if so it goes by your amp's power at 4ohm and not at 1ohm so the you could get a 2000wrms amp and still be in the same class. Maybe even a 2500wrms amp

..im not really sure about any certain rules he goes by, but most of the shows we go to have either a 0-12 inch class and a 500-1000watt class.

I ran my HDC3's off 1100 each and they were quiet impressive.

If it'll see 1500~ it'll be happy.
