Upgrade from an M3 to a C3 15....?

Ok well, I blew my m3 this past weekend. I've done it twice now, both times were at night during the winter on cold nights, low 30's. Would the temperature be to blame? Anyways...

Took her in again, then got a call saying that Memphis no longer sells the replacement cartridges anymore for the M3. Store manager (pretty legit guy) told me I would receive store credit, and being I don't want to downgrade, he said I could upgrade to the c3 for $50 more on top of the store credit. The only thing I could tell just by looking at it is that it has a beefier surround. Does anybody have any experience with the c3's, are they much more different than the M3's? If so, please inform me. Thanks fellas.

why is cold weather bad on woofers? was it a mechanical faliure? memphis never really impressed me.. for the price of the c3 you can get DD 2500s that are prety much on par with the mojos.. iver ran 1500 RMS to the 2500s and they take it as long as its clean.. even the 1512s will out perform the c3s.. its your money do what you want, but i really don't think the c3 is a big upgrade..

He has a store credit. so he is limited to what the store has to offer.

Would you mind telling what other brands the store can get?

Also, cold weather can be bad on leads and other components of the woofer. Just like plastic gets brittle in the cold, so can parts of a woofer. Let the car get warm and give the woofer some low level time b4 blasting it.

Thanks for the help, but I'm extremely limited. I'll go in and take a look later but honestly the only thing I can think that they carry is Memphis. I'm pretty sure that's it subwoofer wise.

2500's will not take what a Mojo will.

What amp do you have on the M3? what was the difference to go to a CM?

The C3 is the replacement for the M3.The basket design is a little different.I know for a fact that they went with an alluminum voice coil, which is why they are rated higher. The M3s were 500w rms and the C3s are 600w rms. Same goes for the Mojo, now called the CM. I want to say that the magnet size is smaller, and also believe (but not sure), that the sensitivity rating is lower. They are indeed sexy, but with the exception of the higher RMS rating, I like the previous model better.The Mojo is a beast, but you really can do better for the same money, if not less. Hope that helps.

.......and if your dealer was that "legit", he wouldn't charge you the $50 to put you into the sub which is the replacement for the one that you currently have under warranty!!! I know that mine wouldn't pull that. Worst case scenario, keep the store credit for other stuff you might need. I have an M3 in my girl's truck and got it from a Memphis dealer for $265. I didn't think the C3s jumped up that much in price.
