my truck came with a stock jbl synthesis system in it, and while it's ok, it doesn't quite do it for the price of the vehicle. it doesn't have enough bass/ midbass when driving in the driver seat, even though it has a powered sub in the rear. apparently jbl spends time working out these systems custom to each Toyota vehicle into which they are installed, but this one is leaving something to be desired. Given the way the vehicle is designed, it seems like a pretty impossible task to upgrade without the costs going through the roof - the front has 4 inch / .75 in tweeters in the dash (plus a center channel) and then 6x9s in the doors, and only god knows where the crossover sits (just google jbl synthesis 2013 land cruiser and it goes to the site). Also there are not too many of these systems on the road, so it's hard to find good help on these. I've seen there are some devices by several companies that let you upgrade keeping the factory wiring but I've no experience with these.
My goal is to have a meaningful upgrade in sound for ~$1,000 or so without materially hacking up the truck or having equipment intrude upon the existing passenger/cargo space.
