Upfiring or Rearfiring--any difference?

well in my experience trunk cars do much better with a rear fire vs front fire. at least in all ten set-ups that i've ever had..in six different cars. but to add to my first post this will be in a trunked car.

sorry, I didn't read (used to so many who post about SPL only)...

you still didn't mention your vehicle type although from your sig, it is a trunk car. If you think firing towards the rear does well, I would stick with it.

I'm guess he does have enough clearance in the trunk to rear fire....maybe a slanted baffle if thats the case. I havent done much experimenting with firing up, so Im not much help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i can't do rear fire in my car with what i'm going to do....thats why i was asking for opinions from those who have done a upfire. yeah its a trunked car tho. local shop said i should not be able to tell the difference if installed right.

I have read some interesting articles about porting through the ( i belive you car has 4x10) holes. Not sure how it would affect sq, but gives you some more options in box size and whatnot.

i took the rear speakers completely out just for the extra holes and it made a big difference but the space under my rear deck will be where the amps are mounted most likely.

Firing forwards can sound better... if done right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Also personally I wouldn't do up firing. All the setups I have heard in trunk cars are alot better when they are fired backwards.

I have always like the sound from a rear fire sealed or rear fire ported box (port rear fire too). I can tell a little bit of difference between rear and up fire. I dont know why, I guess the notes seem more full rear fire then they do up fire.

EDIT: this one is pretty much all opinions

There is almost no SQ differnece between the two, as far as I can tell... I played around firing all my setups differently in my old Eclipse and always went with rear firing just because it seemed louder and did not sound worse.

Well if spl is of any concern my friend gains db's by upfiring instead of rearfiring and this is in a honda accord. I have been told(never tested this though!) if you up fire for best results make sure your subs are a portwidth away from the trunk lid for less cancellation, once again this is just what i have been told never have tried it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
