up-firing or rear-firing in Grand Am?

well afaik, it SHOULD sound the same no matter what direction that its firing. It made no difference when I pointed my box up instead of back in my neon. Bout the only difference is the air comming out of the port helps to push up the carpeting material that covers the 6x9s that go into the trunk some

I have a 95 Grand am SE...fire the box towards the back of the car (bumper). If you can put it about 1ft away from the edge of the trunk. Firing it upwards was the quietest. Right now I have mine facing forward totally sealed off from the trunk and sounds really good. Only thing that rattles would be the b pillar plastic covers and the rear deck cover is a ***** so bolt that ***** down.

I have no experience with trunks.
welcome to the wonderful world of trunks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif try it in all positions and find the one thats the best.

Toward the back for sure.

Tried firing my l5's ever which way from sunday in my jetta, and toward the rear was the loudest, whether i had the rear seats folded up, or down.

My lisence plate vibrated so bad you could actually hear it in the car, but nothing compared to the rattles i got while firing it up.

Front firing is the worst. The longer the bass travels the louder it is. My subs faced toward my seats, sound like shit and arent as loud at all. My subs faced rear with the box touching the seat is loud. My subs faced rear with my box as close to the end of my car as possible is loudest. Just becarefull that they dont slide around then pound against ur trunk...that woudl be bad.

Not always...sometimes in a sedan all the way back facing forward works better on the meter. If the box is real big and the subs and port are both facing forward, it muffles the air and doesn't hit as good a number

I drew out some plans for a sealed box for my sisters 12" Infinity References, and they'll be in the trunk of a 95 Pontiac Grand Am. What are the pros and cons of each? SPL, SQ, rattles, etc.

Just go ahead and try firing up, into the cabin, toward the bumper and see what sounds the best for you.
