I'd rather re-cone it fresh....the other tensil leads that didnt snap are blackened in spots pretty bad...

Cause I leave bass boost on 0 and gain never goes above 1/2...

Didn't anyone else notice the melted push terminal? Looks to me like the terminal busted and the tinsels arced on the basket, causing those black spots and frying the tinsels.

Not necessary for this design - also, in general terms an 8" spider will be "louder" on a 3" coil than a 10" spider as well.

As for the tinsel failure my guess is when the amps were dropped to 0.25 ohms it was just too much current for them - they are pretty tough leads, though. We just put two Memphis 4kws on the "monster sub" prototype this weekend w/ the exact same leads. I run four 1500s on the same sub myself.

Looks like the push terminal failed, not the leads. Perhaps it was loose or something.

its the extra heat buildup from the current.....not the harmonics

the hotter the coil, the hotter the tinsels......and they can only take so much......
