Unlocked Phones

I am looking at buying an unlocked Razr V3i on ebay. I have cingular and want it to work on cingulars settings so that all features work properly. Anyone have experience with unlocked phones and cingular? Are they recommended? I dont wanna pay $400 for the V3i in 2 weeks or more when Cingular is supposed to get it

A friend of mine bought an unlocked pebl, and she uses it with cingular. It makes and recives calls. Thats about it. Also it doesnt pick up service very well. She always misses calls. and her voicemails caome like an hour after you leave them.

I see...how easy is it to lock the phone to Cingular to run it off their settings?
