I filed for Unemployment about 5 days ago.. they said i could start claiming weeks on the 27th.. but only have a Confirm number... don't know if i was accepted to collect or not.. but anyways... after doing it.. my dad said when he tryed to it he changed his mind.. because we were working in Alabama... but i applied for Unemployment in Florida because thats where i live.. the alabama line is like 20 minutes from me.. will i have problem getting unemployment because i didn't apply for Alabama Unemployment? when thats where the job i got layed off from was located?

so no more job u move and u looking to get a little help?
Nah i didn't move. my job that i got layed off from was in Alabama but i live in Florida.. and i applyed for Florida Unemployment but i was told if i got layed off from a Alabama state job that i needed to get Alabama Enemployment.. im just not sure..

ohhh sounds like u gota make a few phone calls bro. better to here it fromethe horses mouth. or whors mouth whatever works
phone is always busy.. i just wanted to see if someone been in the same spot as i am.. is if u gotta get Unemployment in the same state as u were layed off from or the same state u live in..

well as long as the two states work together then you dont.

like me i live in ohio. work in pa and ohio both. so i try and get pa unemployment because the rate is higher than ohio. you might want to check and see. you may even get more if you file in alabama. i know people that go to mass. to get unemployment because it is so high and as long as you work in any three states i believe it is, you can file there. you just have to check with the states rules. go to their online site and check out the info.

if you dont know the site. i know for pa its state.pa.us and there is links on the home page for unemployment. not sure if its the same for your state or alabama.

It is called an out of state claim, and yes you can do it. But I would check to see which one has a higher rate, as I believe Florida's is garbage:crap:
yes if the state you want to file in will let you combine wages for both states. not all do. also you may be required to travel to the other state to file a claim there. for pa your supposed to be physically in pa when you call them to open your claim. they do check the caller id too lol. i just did mine for this year recently and they said your going to have to call from a pa number. so lucky for me one of my cell phones is a pa number. not that its a real big deal since i live less than a mile from pa.

David19.. I respect that you come here often asking for advice in a variety of topics. However. some of them, and particularly this one are very particular to your specific situation and most likely can only be handled within your specific jurisdiction. I can tell you that at one point I have filed for unemployment in Indiana and could explain to you what kind of experience I had there. I could also tell you about having to file for unemployment in the country of Sweden after completing a masters degree but not able to immediately maintain my student loan payments.

Neither of those experiences is going to give you a very good point of reference in your specific situation, because most unemployment benefits (even if they are benefits subsidized by the federal government) are mandated and administrated by the state.

If you are in a bit of a predicament as far as loosing your job is concerned,, and your relatives have experienced the same thing... you should be seeking proper advice from them, and possibly working at the grassroots level with your disenfranchised colleagues, counterparts and affected family, to find the best solution to your temporary problem and instead of expecting that you are going to get some golden answer from the CA.com community be out there with them sorting your situation out and making a loud appeal to claim your rights.
