i have a Performance Teknique 1000w with a : pioneer premier 880 head unit with 3 cvrs 12 in a sealed box the amp setting are lpf 30hz-500hz subsonic 10hz-100hz bass eq 0 db- 18 db level 6v- 0.2v what is the best way to tone my amp for spl

and if u can teach me what dose what, and give me a idea whats louder or lower like is 10 hz louder then 30 hz or 5db vs 10db

thanks too any and all to help me understand

Low pass is where your subs will stop getting frequencies at on the high level. Set this around 80-90.

Subsonic is to block out the lower frequencies to "save" your subs from over excursion. It should be set around ur tuning frequency in a ported box. Or just set it at like 25 (someone else input on this).

DO NOT TURN ON THE BASS BOOST.

Set your gains (level) with a dmm set on AC voltages. To get the number just square root(RMS WATTS x OHM LOAD).

This origional poster obiously has no idea what the dials do on the amp, telling him just to go and set the gain with a dmm is not much use to him since he will not understand how to do so.

If your going to help the guy out at least give him the proper information so he does it correct and so he dont blow his amp/subs up.

Use this chart below. These wattages are for RMS, not PEAK ratings. Chance are the perfromance techniqe amp is rated 1000 watts peak. You will need to find out what ohm load you will be running the amp at, and if the amp is safe to run at that ohm. To do this we need to know if your subs are dual voice coil or single voice coil, and what ohm the coils are, this can also be checked with a dmm (digital multimeter, and a cheap one can be bought from walmart for about $10).

Then once you find out the real rms rating of the said amp at what ohm load find the wattage on the left, and follow it right til your in the box at the correct ohm load. This will be the a/c voltage you need to turn your gain up to while playing either a 50 or 60 hert test tone.
