Underrated subwoofer excursion? (VID)

hey guys, all my equipment is gone but my passion for all this crap remains... i want to ask something i've been meaning to for a long time... it's about my ex-subwoofer excursion, which was said to be 8.7mm on the manual but it looks to go **** further than this...

here i made a video of it a long time ago, some of you may remember it cos i've posted it earlier hehe

what you guys think?

There is a big difference between Xmax and mechanical excursion ability. Just because is moving more that 8.7mm doesn't mean it is at all linear.

could have i damaged the subw somehow by forcing it's excursion in free air or something like in the video?

Put it on ROE, until then I ain't watchin' it.

**** thing got horribly glitchy when I clicked on the first link (**** thing being the computer) and it ****ed up my browser.Had to close everything and re-open.

It's hard to say, just listen for mechanical stress noises and warning sounds. It should audibly warn you if it is being overdriven.
