Underpower Adire Shiva?

The Adire Shiva is rated at 650W for the driver, however on the company website it shows the sub running on 60W. Is this possible? Im still a bit skeptical about running less than 400 watts of power to this driver...no matter how big the box.

"NEW: See the video of a Shiva pumping away with just 60W RMS! Yes, lots of output with very little power - Shivas can crank without blowing your budget for amps. This video courtesy of Itay, a Shiva enthusiast in Israel."

(Sorry for the misplaced post, i must have gotten lost //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif )

Man, those specs are stupid.

300 RMS...

The one I installed is running 400W to it, just a lil to much for it.

Trust me, under 400W and you will be fine

P.S

Thats 650 MAX, try 1/2 that and you will be just dandy

the 60watt video was a home setup, the best amount of wattage for it in a car setup is 300-350, how many were u goin to get, if u get 1 port it with about 2-2.5 cf tuned to around 30hz

Adire's rating is thermal, NOT A RECOMMENDED POWER INPUT ...
IIRC, Mr. Laine (Adire dealer) said it's not even worth sending more than 400 RMS to a Shiva as it suffers greatly from power compression beyond that (in other words, you will gain very little output by giving it more than 400 RMS) ...
This is very true...1st hand exprienceSealed- 2ft^3

Ported-3ft^3

Ahh...that clears up alot...i was about to go out lookin for a difference sub, for i dont want to spend $500 on an amp. I was only going to get one, and put it in a ~4 cuft sealed box, however im still not set on the technicailities.

2-2.5 ft sealed.

300W rms at 4 ohms.

The amp i used will work just fine.

It cost $130 shipped...if you choose to add another shiva then this amp has the power to power 2

Well guys, before i posted here, i sent an email out to Adire Audio concerning box size vs power...heres their reply:

"Thanks for the e-mail! For just about any application of a Shiva in a 4 cubic foot box, 200-250W is plenty; 350W is more than enough. Power ratings are just that - a maximum power rating. It is NOT a power requirement. For a ported 4 cubic foot box, you'll get full output down deep with just 200-250W; a sealed box would use closer to 200W for maximum output levels."

I'd guess the 2 ft^3 enclosure is probably the reason why 400 watts was a little too much ... I'm not incredibly familiar with Shivas, but 300 watts looks to be a little much for 2.5 ft^3 sealed on BBP6 (exceeds Xmax @ 24 Hz) ...

hm... on winisd pro(i know it sucks just a reference tool) a shiva in a 2.5 cube sealed box off 300 watts goes past xmax roughly between like 32-33. when does a shiva in a 1.5 cube sealed box off 300 watts go past xmax on BBP6?
