Undercover Cops

im pretty sure a lawyer could argue that it was entrapment. just like when they do ************ stings. the guy has to solicit the girl, the undercover cant approach the vehicle and ask if they want ***........ hell in a few states most of those "to catch a predator" guys got off because it was considered entrapment.
even something as serious as a dui a friend of mine got off because the judge ruled it was entrapment. long story short my friend left the bar. a cop was sitting in the bar parking lot waiting for people to leave so he could then pull them over. he got pulled over, was obviously drinking and got a dui. all charges dropped due to entrapment.

now before i get flamed yes my friend was a moron and yes he deserved a dui. he shouldnt of been drinking and driving.
How in the hell is that entrapment? Or am I missing some details? I see a dipshit getting into a car, driving drunk, and a cop pulling him over. How the cop tricked him into that situation is beyond me.

How's it entrapment? He didn't force the guy to race with him.
He did this to himself. He committed the crime, the cop was just doing his job by pulling over the speeder.
no doubt he committed a crime. the question is was he induced or persuaded to commit that crime by the cop.

second if it wasnt entrapment and he did have a case do you really think the cop was just being a nice guy by letting him off? seriously.... how many cops do you know that would have an iron clad case, a guaranteed 2000 grand in revenues by giving him a drag racing ticket, would of just let him go? not one cop ive ever come in contact with comes to mind.

fact of the matter is that in any law class you take the first thing you will learn is that its all about interpretation. what might be white to me is off white to another and is egg shell to a third person. we can sit here and debate it all day long but at the end of the day all that matters is the opinion of a judge. but since there is no case, no judge, no ticket, we should all just agree that the OP was an idiot for taking the bait in the first place and call it a day.

Entrapment is a funny thing. I got out of a speeding ticket here in Missouri, because the cop could not be seen in his hiding spot from either direction of oncoming traffic. The court considered that entrapment.

You gave in to the bait. You deserved to get pulled over. You're too gullible!
exactly !!!

IDK if thats technically entrapment but what i do know is that it is illegal for a police officer to wait outside of a bar and wait for someone to get in a vehicle and drive away!

entrapment

n. in criminal law, the act of law enforcement officers or government agents inducing or encouraging a person to commit a crime when the potential criminal expresses a desire not to go ahead. The key to entrapment is whether the idea for the commission or encouragement of the criminal act originated with the police or government agents instead of with the "criminal." Entrapment, if proved, is a defense to a criminal prosecution. The accused often claims entrapment in so-called "stings" in which undercover agents buy or sell narcotics, prostitutes' services or arrange to purchase goods believed to be stolen. The factual question is: Would Johnny Begood have purchased the drugs if not pressed by the narc?

Another definition from law.com

In GA(but as stated this may not apply in other states) more than likely a judge would have thrown the case out due to entrapment, IF the defendant or his/her lawyer could prove it. There's your problem - proving it. Entrapment in this manner is a new thing and has a lot of air around it - yes, the OP was just cruisin around minding his own business in the Camaro(Beautiful car, btw), and yes he would have raced would another person come along and antagonized him; however, being that it was a police officer and he did race him, his being pulled over would be thrown out in court. By the officer taking the initiative to create the race, he provoked the situation. Had he kept cruising and the OP caught him and tried to race him - it's OP's ***, car, and money. Although the revving of a motor or speeding off and backing back down to level out the heads of the car didnt necessarily MAKE the OP race, it did entice him and further provoke him to do an action he had no intentions to do originally.

That's how a judge would look at it in the state of GA.

OP - Racing is dumb. I've done it a thousand times, sadly enough, but have learned my lessons through mishaps and understanding.

To the other guy with DUI - - - That's not entrapment. The police officer didnt offer the guy a beer or alcoholic beverage, he merely sat outside of a place of business and calmly waited. That's more of an issue the bar owner would need to speak to local authorities about, as he can say the local units are pinpointing his bar to "hassle" his customers, if you will. He can have it stopped or at least have the unit moved to another location further down the road. That is your friends stupidity and I IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM agree with drunk driving, it in itself shows some of the utmost signs of ignorance and selfishness with no regard for other people's welfare.

Completely legal in the state of Georgia. It's only due to ethics and having to hear the whining behind closed doors that this doesn't happen more often.

Where I live(and there have been nights), they can assign an officer or two to every bar and pull over every person they desire for suspected drunk driving if that person gives them any reason whatsoever(and honestly the drivers often don't have to give the officer a reason, they can merely say their tires were touching the lines).

Rules can be bent, remember that. Probably cause is very loosely used and a very powerful tool for a police officer.

So I got pulled yesterday on I-69
I was minding my own business, cruising along in my dad's camaro.

Then this unmarked black corvette with badass black rims (20's), and dark tint pulls up next to me, and rides along side of me for about 3-4 miles. Then he starts revving his engine, and takes off. I ignored it, and then he slows dows and I catch up with him. This he started revving his engine again, so I said screw it. I took off, and so did he. I got ahead of him doing about 110 and he flips the lights on and pulls me over. He asked me what I was doing driving that fast, and I said "well sir, you tried to race me" and he said "well....." and left it at that. Then he let me go with a verbal warning.

Isn't it illegial for police to do this?
Wow,what a crock of shit.....PIGS !

Yeah, it is stupid to race. But I'm just like everyone else who drives a nice car. I dont go looking for races, and everytime I see a Vette or a Mustang, I go rev my engine at them. hell no. And normally, when someone revs at me, I dont normally race. But when someone ride right beside me for miles, and then revvs, takes off, slows back down, and revvs again, it gets annoying. So I took off to shut him up.

Tell me this dosent have a change against a vette

it is not considered entrapment if you think about it cause if it had been another person not a cop you two probably would have went a couple of miles racing, and if a cop had clocked you then you would be screwed bad. what they are trying to do is stop people from excepting challenges like that. so if you think about it you got off lucky and any of you want to race they made drag strips for that and if you dont want to wait or you cant afford to go then dont race or get permission from a local farmer alot of them will let you if you show them you have common since and not going to mess up his crops. remember theres a time and place
words cannot describe how mentally challenged i feel you are

If it wasnt a cop, and just a civilian doing that, im sure the OP would have done the same thing. Which means, he cant use entrapment as a defense, and the cop would argue that too.
you're an idiot and fail to grasp the concept of entrapment

What about stopping at a light and saying "Hey, knock that shit off, it's annoying"?

Because there are stoplights on interstates to stop at. I think he would jsut keep doing it at a stoplight anyway. His tint was dark and the window was up, so he isnt going to roll it down to let me know its a cop.
