my cousin carlos stole $9K from my house once. i was pissed, but didnt come on a board to cry about it. you live and learn thats all, but denying my folks money has never happened. they are in their 60's now and i still buy them alot and send them on trips.

The money was not hers, period.

You act as if no money was left for her, and as if the responsibility of being a parent gives her the right to things that aren't hers "for the good of the family".

If the family is the mother and the son, and he can afford to pay bills himself... I fail to see how this is anything but better for the mother.

this little brat is complaining about 12 grand when he should be thankful he has a roof over his head and at least one parent still around. you must have no clue how it is to lose a parent and not only have your debt, but have the spouses debt incurred upon you as well. judging from a vacation house with so much back debt his mom has been strugglin for a long time while this kid has been living in la-la land.

she now has to cover their old expenses with one income and if you think insurance coverage is enough, guess again. considering funeral costs, hospital costs, vacation home costs, cars, etc... she has more right to it than he does.

If she had access to the account, you can't legally sue her, even if he wanted you to have the money. Which is why you never have a shared account because one person can legally take every penny out of it and there's nothing (legally) that you can do about it.
You should have immediately had that money put into a private account under your name. I noticed earlier you said it wasn't a shared account, but if that were true, she wouldn't have had access to the money without forging your name, and that in itself is a felony.

Sucks bro, if times are hard, she shoulda came to you and asked. Her just taking it like that is flat out wrong, and not telling you about it afterwards is just as bad. My mom's been nothing but good to me so I can't say what I'd do, but that certainly sux de nuts.

Get a statement from the bank showing all account activity. Find out when it was taken and how much each time. Perhaps your mother has a problem, and is embarassed to admit it (gambling, drugs? I know kind of rude of me to say not knowing your situation, but still explore the possibilities) Ask her when it was taken and how much (without telling her you have the ststements of course) See if the facts match. Maybe there is a problem, maybe it really is just overwelming bills.

Evenso, why does she own an extra house? Sell it, hans it over to you, whatever. This will take time to figure out, BUT if you had a choice to keep a roof over your and yors childs head, or be homeless.. Id be willing to bet you'd be doing everything in your own power to make ends meet. Even if it were your childs money involved. Should she have told you.. Absolutley! But perhaps she was too embarassed.

As for the "rich white kid" comment.. Nothing but BS and racial profiling there, ignore it. We save every week for our daughter's and they have quite the chunk of "change" in the bank. It does not take long for a bank account to reach into the ten-thousands if done wisely. BUT you can bet your *** if it came down to losing our home or going hungry, the kids account WOULD be used to keep us from becoming homeless. My oldest is 6, and when she is of an adult age, she will be given the cash, as will my 1 year old. What they do with it is their buisness weather it be college, home, etc. We arent wealthy, just a typical middle class family that is responsible with $$$.

Hope you get to the bottom of it, and everything works out. Remember, you can always earn more money, you cant buy new parents. Cherish their presence!

A few months ago my mother asks me to help pay on taxes for our home up north, about 4-5 grand, I agree seeing we plan on moving back.... I go to check my account that my father made for me and it had $12,000 in it I get my recipt and see $500 I flicp the fvck out and go home and ask my mom she starts *****ing about "O I needed ot for the taxes they were past due blah blah blah...

Goto the bank or call and get the bank statements mailed to you in a plain manilla envelope or goto fed ex kinkos and have them fax it there. I can see maybe taking a few hundred or a few K (2-4) I'd be pissed. But she cleaned you the fuk out,and left $500. Sorry to say but she didn't borrow some money, she straight out robbed you. When it comes to family, situations like this get all screwed up. Make sure you think things through after you cool down, and make a decision. Don't just rush into a decision while your pissed and upset.

**** man, I would sue her, my mom is a *****, left me when I was a kid. All drugged out and drunk all the time. Stole my bike when I was 8 and pawned it for whatever drug money. My grandparents raised me which was cool, I turned out good and so did my sister. We both have great paying jobs and families. I hate parents sometimes.
