i have 5 8's in my standard truck cab and with system at max, it doen't give me the back pounding bass that i like(all though it does have lots of constant vibes that break shit on my truck)

so i open both doors and wow, then it starts to pound quite a bit better...

would going with a sealed box help with my canselation problem?

i kinda like the sound of a band pass box but i dont like the peaky responce curve...

Thats just the sound properties of the truck. My 10" in a ported enclosure acts the SAME exact way, both in my daily and competition boxes. All sealed up is nowhere near as loud as a door/windows open.

It's just the nature of the beast. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

drivers door open, mic in passenger side kickpanel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the competition box will do a 141+ on the dash with the doors and windows closed though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i also had similar results from rolling down the windows. i wrote emailed jl audio and got this response:

...If there is a significant output difference from whenthe window are up than to down, it's usually an indication that the

enclosure is too small for the vehicle and/or the facing of the driver needs

to be changed. Small vehicles can sometimes benefit from an enclosure

slightly larger than our standard recommendations (+20%)....
tommy's competition box shouldn't be "too small" though...it takes up half his cab it appears in the pics i saw of it. that might just blow this email's value out of the water.

tommy. what was your highest score with your daily box?

it's DEFINITELY not the enclosures fault. Every setup i've had in there has acted the same exact way (sealed, ported, 2 10's, one 10).

Never got the daily box metered, but my best guess would be like low-mid 130's

i could careless about numbers on a mic... i just want to feel more thump

i have a ported box right now tuned to 32 hz, on punchy bass music like 50 cent, my subs just dont come through with the goods...

i was tossing around the idea of adding 3 more 8's (8 8's total)and sealing them with a 1500 brutus, or just adding one more ported with the same amp(bx1000d)

would locating the port on the same side of the box as the subs make a difference?

right now the port is on the top of the box and subs are on the side
