If i think i short circuited a wire is there a way i can check if it is really shorted? Can i check the wire witha miltimeter? How and what do i set my DMM in to check it? Thanks alot.

i really dont know which one but its either the yellow or red wire coming from the harnass. WHat will happen if i shorted one of those wires??

Hopefully, if you had a fuse in the wiring harness, it would blow. Otherwise...the heat could melt the wire and possibly cause a fire, although it's not as dangerous as say, a 1/0awg cable melting down. Worst case, the head unit's fuses didn't act quickly enough and fry something internally.

so is there a way to check if any of those wires are f'ed up? because currently my car is dying and me and my dad thought it was the battery. We brought the battery to Sears and they ran some tests and siad that it came out "GOOD." Now it only works when the battery is charged but me and my dad used a multimeter once it dies and it always reads 12.11 volts, so meaning that the battery is ok.

Now, thinking about it, we thought that the alternator was f'ed, but then again the battery suppose to be getting eaten up. So checking the DMM it still gives us 12v.

So then my dad was asking me questions if i shorted anything in the IGNITION wires or something. So i wanted to ask if there is any effect in this.

Switch the DMM to DC voltage. Read for 12 volts. Turn the car on, test the battery. It should read 13.8-14.4 volts. If it is around 12v, It is the Alt, Voltage regulator, or Alt wire/fuse.
