Ok so i just sold my alpine type X for two kicker compVR's, I currently have a Power Acoustic 1600 (370rms x 2 | 740rms x 1) and i want to sell it and buy an kicker amplifier so last night my cousin told me (who previously owned 2 compVR's) and he said a guy from circuit city told him one sub = two channel amp and two subs = mono amp..i didnt think that was right but i really dont know so would i be better off buying a 1000rms x 1 kicker amp or a 400-500rms x 2 kicker amp?

Well i want to match the power of the compVR's, i was thinking the Kicker 1000x1 because i can get one for $230 then just keep my settings decent. If you have an better idea im a noob so your opinion is appreciated.

Sounds to me like the guy 1) isn't terribly smart, and 2) assumes there are only SVC 4 subs.

Since a 2 channel amp can be bridged to get optimal power into a 4 ohm load, and many mono amps run optimally at 2 ohms (a pair of SVC 4's parallel) I think I see where he's going, but that is not at all a standard practice - especially considering SVC's are becoming the exception rather than the rule.
