i have two runs of 1/0 gauge going to a single rear battery from the front. one pos and one neg. i drive a 2001 impala a unibody car, and i cant find a good ground in the trunk, if i wanted to could i run two runs of pos and ground in the trunk with two grounds? do you think i would get a voltage gain? or say lower voltage drops? what do you guys think?

so your only using the ground up front? you dont have the batts in the back grounded straight to the frame ?
like i said, the path of least resistance is the best, 99 times out of 100. Technically, if your grounding ot the frame, the current is just taking a different route to the other battery.

think of it this way.

you have two batteries, and they need to be attached to each other.

if they were sitting right next to each other, you would just daisy chain them together.

if they are apart (your case), why not just do the same thing? battery to battery connections takes the current from one battery to another. battery to frame results in the current going through the frame, which is connected to the chassis, which is conected to multiple parts of the frame, which is connected to other electrical components, etc etc. That current is going everywhere, and that current is going to have more resistance than a b-line connection to the other battery.

the frame isnt the shortest path, either, because its traveling the same distance as the frame is.
