Two IDMAX 10's or One ED 15oV.2?

Hey everyone,

I am having a hard time deciding wether to go with two IDMAX 10's or one ED 15oV.2, and I am wondering if you all can give me some advice.

Here is my situation:

I already have the two IDMAX 10's that i've had for 2 years now and never used, but if I go this route I will definately need a stronger amplifier and a stronger alternator. And I'll need a box for them.

I am thinking about getting an ED 15oV.2 . I already have a 600watts RMS amplifier to power it. Though after talking with an ED tech, I am now thinking of getting a 1000 watt RMS amplifier for it and buying it with their recommended enclosure. He said theoretically it will give a 2db gain in output. But then i may need a stronger alternator if i go the 1000 watt RMS route.

What I am looking for:

1) I want the setup that will give me the best Sound Quality.

2) I want the setup that will be the loudest in a sealed box

Now hopefully, HOPEFULLY, i can get both of those in the same setup.

I am leaning towardz the IDMAX setup, but then i would need alot more power than i'd need for the 15o. Which means more $$.

I think both setups will require me to get a stronger alternator.

The 15" has more cone area than the two 10's, but the 10's have more linear xmax. So i dont know which would be louder. But for some reason i think the 2 tens would be more "musical".

I'm having a hard time deciding.

What do you guyz think I should do?

Now, about you saying that i wont need another alternator for 1000RMS, thats interesting.

My stock alternator is 125amps. I drive a Chrysler mid-sized car.

Now, what i am just now mentioning is, i have another 400RMS amplifier for my door speakers and rearfil. So that is approximately 1400RMS, plus the power that I will need to run the other car electronics.

And most of the time i am not on the expressway. So my RPMs arent high enough that i'd think im getting everything from my Alternator, which sounds like it would still be over-taxed even if it did.

You already have the MAX's. Your going to be taking a loss is my guess on them if you sell them. But if your willing to do that i would keep your amp and get the Ov.2. Im not a big fan of high power systems. If your not interests in crazy numbers then why spend tons of money. 1 15 should be plunty for daily listening if not you have hearing problems.

ID > eD it is that simple, plus the IDMAX is an excellent sub.

I'd personally keep the IDMaxs and go that route. If you want sound quality first, then keep what you have, the Max is considered one of the better SQ drivers out there, they are pretty efficient as well, so they wont require a lot of power.

ED subs are great, but this is the wrong forum to ask about comparing ED to ID or any other brand. majority of the people hate ED, which i dont blame them because i dont know what happened in the past, nor do i care.

i have a 13Ov.3 and i love it, awesome sq with enough umph to it lol. but ID subs are awesome too, so dont get me wrong.

No, the only board you'll go to these days and not get eD hate would be ICIX (owned by eD), or a board that has no idea who they are and what they've done in the past.

I wont accept a few people here starting to act like the anti-eD feelings are merely localized to this board, or is some way unfair to eD based on personal bias. People on virtually every major car audio board dislike eD for good reason. To try and paint another face on the situation is simply not being fair to the truth.

You are one of the larger eD supporters on this board na-rsx, I find it impossible to believe you dont know about the eD scandals. If its true you are unaware, you should educate yourself about the company before you continue spreading the word of their praises.

Go with the Maxes. Excellent subs, amazing company... you can't go wrong.

I respect your opinion, I just dont agree with it. I think Ive told you that before. If you are happy with your equipment, more power to ya. But that wont stop me from reminding people that this stuff is NOT in the past. The JL basket scandal you mentioned is current. The tang-band scandal wasn't that long ago. Before that it was the edead thing. If anything, they have shown a propensity for one scandalous situation after another.

I find your stance that only a scandal that actually hurts them is 'wrong' to be.... curious. I guess them ripping off people, out right no-excuses ripping them off, was okay because they are still in business...?

The funny thing is, most of that stuff is rather recent.

By past we mean, look back like 4-5 years ago, and look at the feet that they stepped on and the people they screwed over so Mr. Ben Milne could stuff his pockets...

My closest friend is Ben's old roommate, trust me, I know basically everything, and if I don't, I know I can find out. Not like it really matters though, because pretty much everything is public knowledge.
