Two Dual 2 ohm CVR's - Series or Parallel?

I have 2 Kicker Comp VR's Dual 2 Ohm in a kicker ported box.

If I connect them in series will I get a 2 Ohm or 4 Ohm total load going to my amp.

If I connect in parallel will I get 1 Ohm or 2 Ohm?

I was think about using the Alpine M650 which is 600 watts at 2 Ohms. Does that mean 300 watts for each of my subs or 600 each?

Or should I get the Kicker 750.1?

Sorry for the noobish questions...I have been getting so many different answers from people.

If both subs are series-wired themselves (4 Ohms each driver independently) and then series-wired to each other you'll get an 8 Ohm load.

If I connect in parallel will I get 1 Ohm or 2 Ohm?

Parallel-wired themselves (1 Ohm each driver) and then paralleled to each other will yield a 1/2 Ohm load which I wouldn't at all recommend attaching to your Alpine amp.


With Dual 2 Ohm subs and the likelyhood you're not going to want to spend the money on an amp that will support a 1/2 Ohm load I would suggest wiring those subs to a 2 Ohm nominal load then getting an amp that will output sufficient wattage at that load.

The output rating is total output which means if you present the amp with a nominal 2 Ohm load (regardless of how that load is achieved) you will get 600w from it. If you achieve that load by using 2 subwoofers then the 600w worth of output is shared between the two or 300w each driver.

Or should I get the Kicker 750.1?

Wow, thanks alot....I have my subs wired like that diagram (series). So I should be outputing 2 ohms to my amp.

I haven't got either the alpine or kicker amp yet. I have the kicker 300.1 which I got as a deal a while ago...but it is weak and these new CVRs need more power. I like kicker but is $200 more really worth getting the kicker over the Alpine???

first, welcome to the site, and i personally would get the kicker, since you dont already have your amp, i would get the kicker. but either amp will do you fine, just whatever you can afford
