My friend has two HIGH power SPL subwoofers, these things are huge and right now he is feeding about 600 wrms x2 and they are barely moving... I wanted to know which amp would be the best to power these speakers..

I dont know the model but they are VERY deep into the box and the cone rubber is very very thick and strong, and they have a big dust cap in the center with SPL on them.

1k rms to each.....if they're the SPL brand, then they are low end subs...but good for someone who just wants their trunk to vibrate

I have seen all kinds of setups, Volfenhag, type -r, Re's, kickers, these are the highest end i have seen besides re, they are the highest spl made.

Well then you need to get your vision checked my friend. Hes probably not going to get much out of these subs no matter what, but if he matches the RMS ratings he should be able to get them to pound a bit more.

the SPL sub i saw was massive. it weighed probly a good 35-40 pounds. the motor was nearly as big as the cone itself. theyre actually pretty decent, even being as cheap as they are (depending on where u find them) ive seen them sell online 200.00 or so, but also seen them forsale for less than 120.00

Just because it is big doesnt mean it can take huge amounts of power. I have a set of clifs here that has dual 200Oz magnets and take 600watts rms.

Here is a pic for you:
