Tweeter Placement

I finished installing a new system in my new truck(2012 Dodge Ram Quad Cab). The front stage is a set of Diamond Hex 600S comps powered by a Memphis 16-MC4.125. The system sounds pretty darn good right from the get go but I need to improve the imaging. I'm hearing way more from the passenger side than I am from the drivers side. I mounted the tweets in the factory location in the dash. On the drivers side, it not the best path to my ears. I didn't want to cut holes in the sail panels, but I can get replacements from the dealer for $15. Would I be better off flush mounting the tweets in sail panels? Whatcha y'all think?

Can you change the mounting to point the right tweet off axis?

Sometimes changing the polarity of a loud tweeter will soften it. I'd try that first.
