Tweeter placement

So I own a Dodge Neon and the stock tweeters are in the dash facing the windshield.. no good. So I was going to move but unsure if I should place in the portion of the door panel next to the side mirror or down lower near the mid speaker. I was reading a review of the PG RSD6.5s (which is what ill be using) and the reviewer said the top spot I mentioned made the sound too bright so he moved to the kick panel.

Is this common? Can I use my headunit controls to tune it down and keep in the higher position? Thoughts?

Speakers: PG RSD6.5s

Headunit: Alpine X100

they will be fine higher up. I had them in the same area in my jeep. RSD's tweeters are not harsh by any means....you will be fine.

i think having the tweeters in your kicks is better on almost every basic setup.. i only like them up high up if they have been very very well tuned

I am looking into the idea of getting the Imprint module for the X100. Not sure if the X100 by itself will have enough tuning capabilities, and if the imprint would allow it (or not be enough still)

Thoughts?

Thanks

I also have a Neon. My tweets are mounted on the A-pillar. Sound great. They are different speakers than yours though. Kicks were basically impossible for me and as far forward in the car as the dash is wouldn't have made the difference that it can in cars with a more vertical windshield and shallower dash. The differences in path lengths between kicks and where I have my tweets would have been only a few inches.

Between the sails, and the kicks, seems that the kicks are a better choice because they arent as close.

My worry with the kicks is that they would now be about a foot from the mid, is that okay? If I put it on the door it would be 2" from the mid (so the kick is like 9 or 10' further away from the seat)

Im guessing ultimately none of this even matter but throwing it out there.

Thanks

Raising the sound stage to the windshield level is a bit trickier than just doing a kickpanel install. Seeing as how these are 2-way sets, the placement isn't very important. The distance of the tweet from a midrange driver is more important than from the midbass driver. To make life easy for yourself, get new kickpanels from Qlogic. They will work perfectly for your install.
