Tweeter location?

I'm trying to figure out where to mount my tweeters. Either way I have to cut into my interior since I want to flush mount, but the decision is in the door or in the a-pillar. My car is a 94 RX-7. What would be the best spot and why?

TEST TEST TEST! I've heard them sound good and bad in both locations. Use some double sided tape and figure out what you like best.

The thing that I have found with an a-piller location is that you will need to do quite a bit more tweaking to get a good balance and sound stage. The closer the tweeter gets to the mid...the less tweaking you'll need.

I prefer to have the tweeter as close to the mid as possible

But, as juju said....grab some tape or veclro and start playing around with it. See what position works best for you in your car.

A-pillar is a B to tune. Mine currently sounds like crap. Of course you may see different results, which is why you should test.

Exactly, to date, the nicest frontstage I have ever heard was josh laine's firebird. He was running koda's with the tweeter up in the dash, yet sounded like it was all coming from the same place, no seperation. I have never been able to achieve those results, I always mount the tweet close to the mid, often sacraficing a perfectly high soundstage for it.
