Tweeter Installation *TONS OF PICS*

when i saw the first post this picture is what popped into my mind.

but yeah lighten up on the guy, i'm about to be in the same boat, trying different locations before i mount permanently. everyone of us was clueless at one time. more than a few of us still are.

front stage isnt simply adding tweeters... try getting some mids in there instead of the coax and it'll sound a hell of a lot better, as for tweeter placement, keep experimenting, but keep in mind that your front stage is gonna get ****ed up by just adding tweets to coax

Ok I gotta comment....that's just as bad as people sticking their 6x9's on top of the mounting holes in the back dash area....just plain stupid. Also planning ahead might be a good idea.

Try mounting them in the A-Pillar at a slight angle towards the windshield. For a simple and effective install this position works great with a high crossover point, around 3.5 - 5 khz or higher if you go 3-way works out well. If you haven't tried this position don't knock it... I've done it in two cars, one 2-way and one 3-way... both have excellent staging for a simple non kick-panel install.

I would also agree that you should ditch the Pioneer coaxials and use a midrange/midbass speaker with a proper crossover between that and the tweeter:

That Goldwood is a very cost effective solution and, although the graph gets a little sloppy up there, you can cross them over at 3.5 - 4khz fairly effectively off-axis in a car door installation. The rising response up top levels out when mounted off-axis. The high Qts yields great midbass in an IB door installation... suffice to say you will not do better for even double the price of that driver. I have used these and listened to them in several different vehicles, they are a killer value for a budget setup.

If your tweeter won't fit in the A-Pillar consider these:

Those are another exceptional value and sound best off-axis like the A-Pillar suggestion I gave you. They are harsh on-axis without EQ work. They will give you very strong treble with good sound quality using a high 3.5 - 4 khz crossover point. I used these AND the now discountinued 3/4" Audax Titanium tweeter in that configuration... the 3/4" worked a little better but you can't get them anymore, that one works very well too.

Anyway... don't take the criticism to heart. Keep learning and improve //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ok i really dont get it... have u just wired the tweeter off the pioneer coax? if so.. that is pointless... usually u want the imaging of the sound to sound like there is a stage in front of you almost like ur windshield is a concert stage... tweets are usually fireing off the windsheild or in sail panels... before u start getting to involved in this go get some components.... one more thing how do u plan to mount the tweeter?

I think it looks great. The way you have the right tweeter bouncing off the front glass to throw it off axis and give the perception of suround sound is well Pure genius! All these haters need to learn a thing from you. Im sure when youre done with all of the custom fiberglassing it will be great. I cant wait for the finall install pics.

Its good that you want to improve the sound of ur vehicle. Its bad you have no idea how to go about it. Consult the pros here before going any further or doing anything permanent. I like the 2nd proposed position though btw. On the corners of the dash in those odd little pockets.
