has anyone ever made them?

i'd like to make them for the A pillar of my car, at the base where it meets the fender, there is a small black panel that i can detach

my question is, can i fiberglass onto the plastic piece and then just re-connect the plastic piece, or will i have to build a whole new piece.

i know alot of people dont put tweeters in the a-pillar, but i am please with the way they sound there.

any suggestions? this will be my first fiberglass project, i've read all the stickies, and i think im ready to give it a try.

i just put a pair of dayton rs tweeters (monsters) in my a-pillars and am finishing up the surface of them right now so i can wrap them in some kind of fabric.

i just got a mdf ring that would hold the tweeter. ( but you will probably have some mounting cup that came with the tweeters you can use) and hotglued it to the pillar where i wanted the tweeters.

i pulled the pillar covers off and re-inforced the rings with some small dowels.

i took some fleece and hot glue and wrapped the pillar about 6" past the ring in both directions.

glassed the fleece, added some cloth and glassed that too.

sanded the whole thing and used plenty of bondo to smooth it out.

but the bondo wont stick to the pillar it's self. i got some 3M P.R.O. plastic repair stuff from a friend that works at a bodyshop and am using that to smooth it all out.

i have some pics i can show you if you want.

use the mounting cup you want...drill a bunch of holes around where the cup on the actual pillar or whatever youre using will go..ca or hot glue the cup to the pillar..build up to the cup with some kittyhair and press it down to make sure it gets well in to the holes you drilled....sand...bondo, sand, bondo, etc...you shouldnt have to use any fiberglass at all.

yes, pics please

it will be very late tonight or tomorrow morning before i can upload any pics.

i wrapped the whole pillars in headliner fabric that has a 1/4" foam backing and am really pleased with how they came out.

now i just need to rip my kicks out and recover them with the kick *** uber stretchy vinyl i just got.
