Ok well I got my hands on an eq2102 today, for those of whom dont know:

now here is the great part, time to tweek it this weekend...

let me know what you would do to different frequency ranges, I listen to rap/R&b...

I am going to have a long weekend so any specifics would be great... here are more specifics of the eq. It has a 6/12 db switch (either one or the other) and 30 eq frequencies....

I am going to make the list as orderly as possible incase anyone says something like "3db boost at 35hz"

any thing like that would be a great starter... I have a general idea but I could always use more thoughts.

here is the adjustable freq's:

25

31.5

40

50

63

80

100

125

160

200

250

315

400

500

630

800

1.25

1.6

2k

2.5k

3.15k

4

5

6.3

8

10

12.5

16

20

(sorry I had to list it like this... its the only way the forum would let it work...)

dam..thats alot of frequecies to play with

tweaking with a eq like that could take u all wekkend..lol

80

as far as a starting point....find out what your going for...4 example..do u want alot of vocals or do u want ear piercing highs...things like that.

i just tried calling you about 10 minutes ago... hit me up 80

im looking for just solid clean sounding songs, my highs on the cdts need to be toned down a bit and I know i need to raise the lower freq's bass response

Only way to find out where to start tweaking is either 1) Locate an RTA, or 2) sit down with it and start tweaking by ear (will take for ever, and will hardly be accurate).

It is literally impossible for us to sit here and tell you where to start boosting and cutting as it is 100% install/speaker/vehicle dependent.

Just a little word of advise; EQ's should be used to cut more than boost. If you have a large valley, smooth it out by gradually decreasing the surrounding frequencies rather than boosting that frequency by 6db. Because remember, boosting frequencies can lead to clipping at that and surrounding frequencies.

Also, some of those valley or peaks may be phasing issues which can be somewhat worked out by playing with the phasing of the speakers.

Eq settings are dependent on install, equipment and vehicle. No one is going to be able to tell you where your Eq needs to be set.

well one thing that I want to do is increase my low end like 25-40hz... I have my XXX12 in a sealed box for sq and I am not feeling the ported box.

I think i need to mess around with this thing though.... Another thing I need to think about is where I am going to put this thing... I wanted to put it somewhere in my cabin, near the drivers seat but I am not sure if I can make that happen... I know I can get it in the trunk.

MUST usa an RTA, set that to acoustically flat (with engine running-exhaust note makes a difference) and write down your settings for flat, then you can tweak to your tastes, add at 10k etc. by ear, and if you jack it up, you can always go back to flat because you were smart and wrote it down in the owners manual or something, unlike me, when I had to go back to the shop for another RTA session.
