What do you prefer and why? Is the cost of a halfway decent led better than a good lcd ect.

I want to buy one but don't want to spend a ton as i'm not all that picky, as long as it looks better than my 27" tube i'm game. I hate to get rid of ol' reliable but the times have changed and I have to give in. I'd prefer a lcd as they're cheaper, but led's are less power hungery and usually last longer.

I'll venture to guess you have a samsung led? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
Yezzir.

The only other brand I would consider is LG

I have been eyeing the 47LM7600, LG 47" LED 3D

So you run strictly Pyle/Boss/Jensen in your car then eh?
No, but I don't run JL or Mcintosh either. I could go out and buy a 60" top of the line led if I wanted too, but I won't, it's a f'ing television.

I won't allow myself to have nice things.

Dont ever buy a used TV

and go for LED lcd vs CFL lcd

they last longer, look better, and use way less power. And generate way less heat, which prolongs the life of the motherboard and other components of the TV

I rock a Panasonic Viera 50" Plasma. If I did it all over again today I'd probably have an LED 240HZ TV but plasmas have no lag and can be had for cheap. My plasma does use a bit of juice and runs warm but you can buy them for like $700 now. Too bad I paid wayyy more than that in 08 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Plasma is nice for the contrast ratio and price.

I had a Samsung LED for a little bit but then I returned it for a Panasonic LCD with IPS panel + cash.

I find that the full array LED are more worth the price than edge lit. I sometimes find good CFL to look better than the edge lit LED.

Samsungs are very good but there are others out there that are just as good. Depends on brand and model. I have had some Samsungs that were garbage, plus I don't care for their menu system.

By the time my CFL backlight gets too dim, I can afford a new high quality LED. TV's now seem to be more disposable than the good CRT's from the 80's and 90's. We had some of those beasts for a decade or two. I think I still have one in my room at some summer property that still works likes a champ.

I assume we're not taking about TV (40"+) but monitors? I've never seen a IPS display larger than 24 or 27 inches and even those are like $500

if so, yes, samsung outsourced alot of their monitors.

But for their TV panels they make them all themselves and actually sell their screens to SONY and LG

Anyways, just wait until OLED is mass produced. Its end game stuff.. Samsung is releasing their Super AMOLED 55" TV this year.. although it will be around 12-15k
