Thinking about getting a new TV, looking at a 51" Hitachi rear projection HDTV...was thinking about a 42" plasma but mounting it will be a *****...also considering DLP's but don't like the black grass effect that I've seen in the past...have they improved that at all?

from what i know they have......and be careful with plasma....for a while they were having real problems with the actual plasma in them and that's the most expensive part to get fixed......

this is what i've heard.....not 100% gospel.....

but me personally, i would go with DLP or LCD....

The plasma inside a plasma tv is completely sealed...the whole plasma leaking/needing to be recharged is a myth.

the recharging i know is a myth.....i didn't hear about it leaking.....i just heard that they had "problems" with the plasma units......it might be BS and it might just be something that was on original models that's been fixed....i don't know

i would still go with dlp or lcd....just my preferance

I'm gonna take a look at the DLP's when I get a chance...watch a ton of sports and I remember when I used to watch the games at work the DLP's had a ghosting issue with the fast-paced movements...

ghosting sucks.....i got a projection setup i'll sell ya for $150 + shipping....gives a 60" screen really well and a 80" screen with a few drawbacks

I haven't looked at them in months...I've been out of work for over a month now anyway, and won't be back for another month or so.

I have a 53" RCA Scenium DLP television with HDMI and HDTV connections. It has a beautiful picture when watching DVD's, playing Playstation or XBOX, it is really awesome when connected to a HD receiver. Sport channels or anything with alot of action does not have that ghost affect that was mentioned earlier. If you are going for the LCD tv try out the Sharp Aquos and the Panasonic.
