Tv Guru's Please Help!!!

I thought lcd and projection were two totally different things, as in lcd is slim and projection is wide?

I found a Sony bravia 1080p lcd prjection hdtv widescreen for 1199

For the price an size you can not beat a rear projection, they usually are between 12 and 16 inches deep. They typically don't carry the "cool" factor because you can't hang them on the wall, They don't typically have as deep a black as plasma or lcd flat screens, however that is not to say that they don't look **** good. If you get one that is 1080p it will give you approximately a 6X better picture than you are experianceing with your standard CRT TV. If you are looking at units that can be hung on a wall, they are generally 2X as much for compareable size and Resolution and you can't get them as big as the rear projection (lets face it size matters!). If I was to give you the my choice, I would go with a Samsung rear projection DLP. bigger screen better price. I can say that because it is exactly what I am doing.
Good luck, I hope it helps
I just hate how wide my RCA 56" projection tv is, my dad has like a 62" slim screen tv and I LOVE his, I want something with pretty **** good quality, over 50" and isnt over 12" deep...

I am also the type that would like to do it "big" so that is why that 65"er is making me drool...

I suggest you read up on DLP's mountineer before purchasing one of those.
Ok so I need an lcd or a plasma..

I dont care if it mounts on the wall, I can put it on a stand I just want something big and not over $1500 and I am looking through the paper and this is mainly what I have came up with. I think sony is of the better brand names and I found one like in my last post, but it says lcd and projection so that confused me, I thought they were two totally different things..

That's gonna take up a lot of room and from expierence I don't recommend those at all. I made the mistake getting a 50" Wega RP Widescreen tv and the lines would contour (curve) up in the corners. I don't know if I had a bad TV, so went into consumer report and sure enough a lot of people were experiencing the same problems. I took it back in to get my XBR1 40" Sony LCD and couldn't have been happier. I have all mine on stands right now, but would be nice to save space if you have a wall mount, plus was a better picture. That is just in my expierence though.

I am not sure if that is a typo or what in that add, but LCD's and projection are different, least I thought they were. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I agree you need a LCD or Plasma. That is the way my son.............//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Hey if you want to save money and have a great picture then can't go wrong with a Westinghouse. I have a 37" LCD LTV model and is fantastic! Paid 950 out the door at best buy and is in my bedroom right there and picture is as good as my XBR4. Is I, not P though. But they have some P models in 46" that are right around 1500 IIRC. Might want to check those out. .

Was the Wega RP widescreen a sony? So your saying you went back and got another sony that was not a widescreen?

So I need a lcd or plasma, that is not a widescreen, that is less that 13" in depth and 50" or more?

What do you think about the zenith 50" plasma for 1000?

Or a Samsung 50" plasma for 1400

I am looking for the westinghouse one in the paper now, I know I saw one earlier.

Found it- 47" westinghouse lcd 1080p for 1300..

there are various technologies that are included in the rear projection catagorie, with include LCD, DLP ... the LCD is also a wall mountable flatscreen as is Plasma.

So the big *** 65" DLP is out of the picture, my optins left are..

zenith 50" plasma for 1000?

Samsung 50" plasma for 1400

47" westinghouse lcd 1080p for 1300..

So the Samsung 50" plasma is my best option for what I need then?

I would hit up the Westinghouse for 1300 bucks. I love my 37" and don't have the hook ups that 47" has. I am sure you will not be dissappointed with it. Only thing I hate about mine is not many HDMi hook ups and the remote sucks balls! The one you are looking at has all the goodies though and IIRC has 4 HDMi hook ups, which is TITS!
