tuning stereo

So I was looking at my amps and remembered something I read. When tuning a stereo only make crossover changes to the radio or amps, but not both. The shop had the crossover on the amps tuned to one thing and the radio was tuned to another. I heard it cancels out frequency ranges. It's late so I couldn't try it but I imagine it sounds better. Surprised pro's would do that.

Depends on where they were set. Generally you want to disable HPF/LPF settings on one or the other, but it is perfectly OK to set the LPF and HPF settings differently between amp and HU if you do it correctly.

For example. If amp LPF is set to highest freq, then HU can be used to adjust LPF from 0 to the amp's max LPF freq. But if you do it the other way around, the HU has no effect. On some amps you have to do this because you can't "disable" the LPF.
