Tuning ?'s again

If i build a 4.5 cube box tuned @30 Hz. For a sub with a Fs of 40 Hz is it going to work properly?i already know that this is gonna be a huge box. I am worried that it will be a waste of materials if it is tuned too low. MDF is rather expensive. If i was to make the port 3/4'' longer what effect would that have on tuning frequency?

What size sub are you building the box for? Hopefully a 15 if it's 4 cubes. Also, I would tune around 35 hz. 30 is a bit too low for me, but it should work fine either way.
