Tuning question for 3 JL 10W6s in a ported enclosure

I'm building a ported enclosure (firing subs up/ports up) for 3 first version 10W6s to be driven by a Crossfire CFA1000D @ 1ohm in a 2nd gen. Eagle Talon.

I have the box layed out as a common enclosure for all 3 subs, with a net volume around 3.1 cu/ft. I'd like to use two 3" ports to tune the box, but am not sure what the best frequency would be. JLs spec sheet show their recommended enclosure tuned to ~30Hz.

I'm thinking of tuning it to around 28-30Hz, but don't know what would be best for these subs--higher or lower. I'm looking for loud, boomy bass, best suited for rap/hip-hop.

Thanks for your help. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i did 3 of those in a toyota tacoma last year. 3.5 at 31hz is what i landed on, and it sounded very nice. if you want boomier bass, it might satisfy you better to tune a little higher. maybe 34 or 35 hz. cabin gain/transfer function with the higher tuning will give you a boomier low end.

Thanks for your responses. I built the enclosure this weekend and settled on ~32Hz. Sounds awesome. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
