Tuning of Alpine CDA-9887 HU

Hi Friends,

can someone advise me whether it is easy or possible to tune the Alpine CDA-9887 HU without the use of the IMPRINT Sound Manager KTX-100EQ.

I asked because I got the mix answers from different shops. I just want a independent opinion.

Regards

i have a similar question. i just installed the 9887 and i don't think it sounds that good (my opinion only) maybe because i don't know how to tune the **** thing. it's so complicated for a beginner. i initially thought it would sound really good without much tuning because im upgrading from stock deck but that's not the case.

anyone want to teach the how to tune and the difference of slope, frequency, band, and Q feature for the xovers?

and also the 5 band p-equalizer?

Why not take your vehicle to a shop that has the KTX-100EQ and have them set it up with that. They'd probably do it for a small fee, and then your system will be set up properly.

Yes, it is possible to tune it without the Imprint. That is how I am using it right now. I am quite happy with the way my system sounds with this HU. I would stay away from any shop that tells you otherwise.

If you guys plan on running active, you have to realize that there is a switch on the top of the (outside) of the deck.

So before you install it, you have to change it from either f/r/s or 3 way (active)

I have it without the imprint, and i find it fairly easy to tune.

Same here

Agreed.

Also for you beginnners, in the setup menu under audio and eq setup, I would use the Graphic eq over the PEQ, the GEQ will be easier for you guys to use, rather than trying to pick different bands to adjust.

wow I tried the GEQ and it's so much more easier to tune. the deck sounds so much better! thanks
