Tuning my amp

i have 2 jl 500/1's going to my RE SX 15 and i want to know how i should tune this because it smells like the voice coils are starting to burn...i dont know how to tune amps i have the Pre amp filter Freq set at 110 the intrasonic Freq (HZ) set a litlle less than 45, "q set at .05, center freq 35, Boost (Db) 0, amp lowpass filter on mode/slope 24DB, Filter Freq HZ 110, I think the amps amps are clipping because i smell the coils. im having it DMMed tomm and then im tuning it but want to know wat i should tune it to. Pre amp dilter freq.? WTF? intrasonic? WTF? Q? WTF? Center Frequency? WTF?

Lower the Lowpass to around 80hz. Set the gain with a DMM. Normally they don't need to be up over half way. Depanding on your pre out strength.

check out JL's website dude they have the pdfs and a flash version on how to set the gain with a simple use of a AC Voltemeter and 50hz sine wave. I just got done doing mine with the help of the autosound 2000 cd104.

your voltage should be around 31.6v

it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you; follow this link for some pdf's you can probably use.
