Say you tune a box to 45hz...Will it resonate with only that frequency?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif If so,then why tune it to one frequency,when a song your listening to is bound to have other frequencies in it.Someone please explain this to me...

 
a port is just a hole in the box, so you can get the sound inside of the box out, for extra output

the longer the port is, the lower the velocity of the air moving in and out of the port needs to be before pressure builds inside the enclosure to adequately suspend the driver, and this minimum frequency is called the "tuning" of the port

it's not the same tuning you'd think of when, say, tuning a piano or a guitar

and yes, added output from the hole typically peaks just above the 'tuned' frequency
